NORTHGATE PLC
BOARD CHANGES
Northgate plc ('Northgate'), the leading commercial vehicle rental company in the UK and Spain, announces that Mr Alan Noble and Mr Phil Moorhouse are retiring from the Board with immediate effect.
Alan founded the Northgate business in February 1981 and was the driving force behind its early growth until the sale to Goode Durrant plc in August 1987. He was subsequently appointed to the Board in 1990 and continued to make a significant contribution to the Group's growth and development until a serious illness in July 2002 resulted in him taking a lengthy absence from the business. Having returned to work full time, he has regrettably suffered from recurrences of his illness such that it has now been agreed that he will retire.
Phil joined Northgate in 1991, becoming Group Finance Director in 1998 and playing a significant role in the creation and implementation of the Group's Strategy for Growth between 1999 and 2003. In 2003, he became Managing Director of the UK Rental business. We had announced that Phil would retire from the business in December this year but, as all day-to-day operational responsibilities have now been transferred, it has been agreed that his retirement will be brought forward.
There will be no Board replacement of Alan or Phil, their duties being assumed by the current executive team.
Bob Mackenzie, Chairman of Northgate, said:
"Both Alan and Phil played leading roles in the growth Northgate enjoyed for very many years. We wish them both a long and well-earned retirement from their executive responsibilities."
