Ten Alps Plc (AIM: TAL) ('Ten Alps' or the 'Company')
Acquisition of public sector online TV production company County Link Media, in Northern Ireland
Ten Alps Plc, the factual media company producing online, TV and print content, has acquired County Link Media Limited ('County Link'), the Belfast online TV production company behind forthcoming public sector online TV channel, Fermanagh TV.
Fermanagh TV is expected to go live in May and is backed by the district council and other public agencies in the area. It aims to deliver local news, features and information through online TV.
Ten Alps already provides Kent TV, a market-leading county TV website with a broadly similar local information mandate and plays a key role in the provision of Teachers TV for the UK government.
County Link will share offices with Below the Radar Limited, the Belfast TV production company acquired last week (as detailed in the Company's announcement of 11 February 2009). The Company plans to seek further public sector and commercial online TV opportunities through the combined operation.
Fearghal McKinney, Director of County Link Media, said:
'Broadband opens up new ways to cover local stories that reflect the lives of people living in every corner of Northern Ireland, and we believe that county online TV channels are a great way to satisfy that demand.
Ten Alps Chief Executive Alex Connock said:
'The acquisition of County Link is a small deal but a significant one for Ten Alps and a step further in local online TV news delivery. This comes at a time when local newspaper groups are wondering how they can continue providing local news in the face of online migration.'
