J. Smart & Co. (Contractors) PLC is a United Kingdom-based commercial, residential and industrial developer in Scotland. The Company's principal activities are building and civil engineering contracting, residential development for sale, the development of industrial and commercial property for lease and the provision of serviced office spaces.
The main area of operations is the central belt of Scotland. The main construction activity undertaken by the Company is that of social housing for several housing associations and registered social landlords predominately in the Edinburgh area and construction of its own private housing for sale. It carries out commercial and industrial developments that are self-financed and are retained for lease in the Company's property portfolio, which totals more than approximately 90,000 square meters in the Central Belt.
It has a number of joint venture projects where it sets up joint venture companies with its partners to deliver the projects.
