Current status of financing arrangements

On 30 September 1999, the Directors announced that financing discussions were
in progress with the Group's bankers and with Steelcase, the Group's principal
supplier, and that the Directors had also been seeking to conclude
negotiations with Steelcase over the proposed disposal of the Leeds, Newcastle
and Cambridge dealerships.

The Directors regret to announce that, since 30 September 1999, negotiations
with Steelcase have not progressed positively.  As a result, the Directors are
presently unable to make any predictions over the ultimate likely outcome of
these negotiations.

A further announcement will be made as soon as practicable.
