Orchard Furniture plc ('Orchard')

Following recent press speculation linking Orchard with a reverse takeover
involving a Far Eastern media company, the Board of Orchard announces that
Orchard has entered into negotiations with two third party companies that may
or may not lead to the acquisition of their businesses by Orchard. The
proposed acquisitions by Orchard will be classified as a reverse takeover
under Rule 13 of the Rules of the Alternative Investment Market of the London
Stock Exchange (the 'AIM Rules'). Accordingly, the Board of Orchard has,
pursuant to the requirements of the AIM Rules, requested that trading in
Orchard's shares be suspended immediately until further notice.

The businesses involved are both currently privately owned and are:

World Sport Group Limited ('WSG'): WSG is an international sports marketing,
media and management organisation, whose principal activity is to acquire
commercial and media rights to sports events from regional governing bodies.
WSG was established by Seamus O'Brien in 1993 and since then has established
an international asset base with activities in Asia, Oceania, Europe and the
Americas, focusing on a number of sports including football, golf, cricket and

Parallel Media Group International ('PMI'): PMI is a sports related marketing
agency founded by David Ciclitira in 1987 with operations in Europe and Asia.
PMI is involved in the acquisition and marketing of sports rights and
associated sponsorship sales and has the exclusive responsibility for
executive sports output on CNBC channels in Europe and Asia.

The proposed acquisitions are conditional on several factors, including
satisfactory completion of a detailed due diligence exercise and the approval
of shareholders at an extraordinary general meeting.

A further announcement will be made in due course.
