BlackRock World Mining chairman retires

BlackRock World Mining Trust chairman Anthony Lea has retired due to ill health. The company had previously announced that he intended to retire at the annual general meeting. He had been chairman since March 2006 and the board expressed its strong appreciation for all his efforts on behalf of the company during his chairmanship and wished him well for his retirement. Ian Cockerill has been appointed as chairman. He has served as a director since November 2013 and has more than 40 years of experience in the mining industry, notably as chief executive of Gold Fields and Anglo Coal between 1999 and 2009.
