US jobless claims fall by 24,000

US initial unemployment claims fell to 334,000 in the week ending 13 July - a decrease of 24,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 358,000. The US Department of Labor said the four-week moving average was 346,000, a decrease of 5,250 from the previous week's revised average of 351,250. The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate was 2.4% for the week ending 6 July, an increase of 0.1 percentage point from the prior week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the week ending 6 July was 3,114,000, an increase of 91,000 from the preceding week's revised level of 3,023,000.
