Balfour Beatty plc (the 'Company') received notice on 23 September 2009 from Legal & General Group Plc ('Legal & General') that Legal & General now hold 31,512,582 50p Ordinary Shares in the Company, representing 6.57% of the total voting rights of the Company.

Of the 31,512,582 50p Ordinary Shares, the Company has been advised that 27,930,150 (5.82%) comprise a direct interest in the Company's total voting rights and that 3,582,432 (0.75%) comprise an indirect interest in the Company's total voting rights.
