REVIEW OF BAA LONDON AIRPORTS: COMPETITION COMMISSION GRANTED MORE TIME TO
DELIVER REPORT

The Civil Aviation Authority has agreed to a request from the Competition
Commission for more time to deliver its report on the BAA London airports.

The Commission was originally due to report by 27 August 2002 and in early July
asked for this to be extended to 31 December 2002. The report will include
recommendations on the caps on airport charges from 1 April 2003.

The CAA has considered the Commission's reasons for its request and also the
views expressed by BAA and airlines. It has also taken into account the need to
keep the period of regulatory uncertainty to a minimum and to allow for the
necessary processes to be followed once the Commission has reported.

The CAA has therefore decided to allow an extension until 31 October 2002. It
has asked the Commission to report as soon as possible within the extended
period.
