Fortune Brands Elects J. Christopher Reyes to Board of Directors

Fortune Brands, Inc. (NYSE:FO), a leading consumer brands company,
today announced that J. Christopher Reyes has been elected to its
Board of Directors. The election, which is effective today, increases
the size of the Board to ten members.

Mr. Reyes, 48, is Co-Chairman of Reyes Holdings, L.L.C., a privately
held company based in Rosemont, IL that owns businesses in beverage
and food distribution. Mr. Reyes, together with his family, founded
the company in 1976 and built it into one of the nation's most
successful beverage and food distribution businesses with sales of
approximately $4 billion. 'With his entrepreneurial background and
vast experience in beverage distribution, Chris Reyes will bring a
valuable perspective to his work on the Fortune Brands Board of
Directors,' said Norm Wesley, Chairman of the Board and Chief
Executive Officer of Fortune Brands.

Mr. Reyes is also a Director of Allstate Corporation and Wintrust
Financial Corporation, and is active in a number of Chicago-based
charities.
