Re: Appointment of Director

The Directors of the Fund wish to announce the appointment of Mark Bickford-Smith to the Board of the Fund with effect from 1 January 2019.

Mark Bickford-Smith has, for the past 6 years, been CIO/Lead portfolio manager for Global Emerging Markets at Charlemagne Capital, now Fiera Capital UK.  As well as running the GEM mandates, he has had responsibility for managing and guiding the team of analysts. He has worked with the risk manager to monitor all types of risk and also overseen the introduction of proxy voting. Under his leadership, environmental, social and corporate governance considerations have increasingly been factored into the stock selection process. He has also been heavily involved with the preparations for MIFID 2, as well as all other regulatory matters.

Prior to working for Fiera Capital, Mark spent 27 years with T. Rowe Price International (and various predecessor entities), including 8 years in Hong Kong. He managed various developed and emerging market mandates, was Chairman of the corporate pension scheme, and was a member of the global proxy voting committee.  His first role on leaving university in 1984 was as a graduate trainee with Schroder Investment Management, where he trained as an equity analyst, and sat the London Society of Investment Analysts exams.

Mark Bickford-Smith has never:

(i)   had any unspent convictions in relation to indictable offences; or

(ii)  been a director of any company or partnership which, while he was a director with an executive function or partner at the time of or within the 12 months preceding such events, been declared bankrupt, went into receivership, liquidation, administration or voluntary arrangements; or

(iii) been subject to any official public incrimination and/or sanctions by statutory or regulatory authorities (including designated professional bodies); or been disqualified by a court from acting as a director of a company or from acting in the management or conduct of affairs of any company.
