WARTHOG ENTERS ICE AGE
Warthog announces first Java game for Mobile
Warthog plc have been contracted by Germany's Mobile Scope AG to produce a
mobile game based on the popular animated movie, Ice Age from Twentieth Century
Fox.
The game, Ice Age: Scrat Goes Nuts, will be Warthog's first Java based product
and is set to be published at the end of the year.
The central character in the game, Scrat, is a quirky squirrel like creature
that must collect nuts and store them safely before his land is enveloped by the
coming Ice Age. The game features both top-down and side-scrolling levels and a
myriad of obstacles and challenges for Scrat to tackle. A high score table will
allow players from around the world to compare their achievements.
Directed by Chris Wedge of Blue Skys, Ice Age has grossed over $118 million
across Europe making it one of the top 5 animated films in Europe. Ice Age
debuts on DVD and VHS all over Europe on October 28 from Twentieth Century Fox
Home Entertainment (TCFHE).
'Ice Age is a great licence for us to create our first Java based game,' said
Tim Coupe Warthog's VP of Mobile and Hand Held Games. 'The technology means
that we can really move towards much more traditional 'console' game action on a
platform that is becoming increasingly mass market,' he continued.
Michael Nuernberg, CMO of Mobile Scope AG commented:
'We are absolutely certain that 'Ice Age' is a very important and valuable
licence for this young and fast growing market of wireless entertainment and we
are excited that we have found Warthog, one of the leading mobile developers, to
work with on this project.'
