Wescol Group PLC

Re Halifax Operations

Wescol Group PLC
18 June 2002

Issued on behalf of Wescol Group PLC

Date: Tuesday, 18 June 2002 IMMEDIATE RELEASE

                           Reorganisation of Wescol's

                               Halifax Operations

As indicated in the Group's Interim Statement, Westok Structural Services
Limited (Westok) Wescol's Cellular Beam subsidiary has a number of exciting
opportunities including the development of its joint venture with Salzgitter AG.
In order to pursue these opportunities Westok is to move its production
facilities from its leasehold facility in Horbury, Wakefield to the Group's more
modern freehold site in Halifax.

To provide room for Westok and to achieve Wescol Steel Limited's continuing
restructuring programme the fabrication work of Wescol Steel Limited carried out
at the Group's Halifax site will be transferred to its sister plants in Brierley
Hill and Hereford where production facilities will be upgraded to allow for the
maintenance of the Company's previous output.

These moves will not only provide better operational efficiencies as the
business moves forward but will result in improved production planning and
customer interface, forming part of the overall strategic plan to return the
Group to profitability,

These actions are subject to the normal regulatory employment procedures and
discussions with employees have commenced.
