21 May 2001

                          YORKLYDE PLC

               Disposal of Westcountry Clothing

Yorklyde Plc ('Yorklyde'), a manufacturer of high value cloth
and accessories for the luxury goods sector and high
specification fabrics for use in the transport industry,
announces today that it has completed the disposal of its loss-
making outerwear business, Westcountry Clothing
('Westcountry'), based in Devon, through a management buy out
led by the previous general manager, Graham Shaw.

Whilst Westcountry's sales have started to recover following
rationalisation last year, it continued to sustain operating
losses in the first three months of the current financial
year. As announced in February 2001, the decision to dispose
of Westcountry was taken after a comprehensive strategic
review by the Board concluded that it no longer fitted into
Yorklyde's core weaving activities.

The net proceeds of the sale of the business and certain of
its assets, excluding property, realised £314,000. Yorklyde
has agreed a licensing arrangement allowing Westcountry to
continue manufacturing clothing under the Invertere label.

Commenting on the disposal, Charles Brook, Chairman of
Yorklyde Plc, said:

'The strategic focus of Yorklyde's business has traditionally
been on its weaving activities. Today's announcement will
enable us to focus management and financial resources fully on
developing the continuing core operations, manufacturing high
value cloth and accessories for the luxury goods sector and
high specification fabrics for use in the transport industry.

'The continuing businesses returned to profitability in the
financial year just ended and all are experiencing improved
order books resulting in high levels of activity, which we
anticipate will benefit the Group's performance in the current
year.'
